Abstract

Mobility in cities will have to change radically, if we are to reach the European ambitions in terms of climate neutrality, safety, and air pollution. This presentation will identify the challenges that lie ahead, both for cities and industry, as we accelerate the necessary shift towards more sustainable mobility. It will highlight what solutions and skills will have to be employed to make this a successful undertaking, and which trends are emerging. It will address the need to govern innovations in a way that they are aligned with public policy goals, thus maximizing opportunities but also mitigating negative externalities linked to private-sector technologies. Finally, this intervention will also reflect on how to make our regulatory frameworks more agile, flexible and proactive to allow innovation to thrive.
