Biography

Akio Hirahara is Senior Managing Executive Officer and Sector President of ICT Solutions Business Sector. He has over three decades of experience in chemical industry and has played key executive role in establishing ICT Solutions Business Sector in 2022. Throughout the career at Mitsui Chemicals, he has managed number of divisions including ICT, mobility and corporate planning. Akio graduated from The University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law in 1987.

As society’s appetite for data continues to grow, semiconductor devices must maintain path to achieve higher performance. Although, advancing to a next technology node is becoming more challenging, many innovations have been applied to achieve traditional dimensional shrink as well as realize chiplet and 3D packaging design.

The semiconductor ecosystem, including chemical companies can leverage collaborative innovation further to achieve even greater results. Mitsui Chemicals has seen successes in practicing collaborative innovation and is planning to expand the efforts.
