Abstract
The growing demand for faster and more energy-efficient data processing in AI, ML, HPC, and cloud data centers is accelerating the need for next-generation interconnect solutions. Imec’s Optical I/O R&D program aims to address this challenge by leveraging silicon photonics with advanced packaging to achieve bandwidth densities of multi-Tbps/mm and energy efficiencies below pJ per bit.
This talk will explore the rapidly evolving landscape of optical interconnect technologies and how they are reshaping the architecture of future datacenter infrastructure. We will also highlight recent breakthroughs in silicon photonics, assessing their potential to meet the extreme bandwidth and energy efficiency requirements of next-generation computing systems.
