Optical interconnects for the AI scale-up domain

Traditional electronic interconnects face growing challenges in reach, bandwidth, latency, and energy efficiency as AI clusters scale. This talk will introduce Microsoft's approach to AI systems and review the infrastructure trends leading us to optical interconnects and their ability to overcome the limitations of traditional copper-based systems. The talk also points out the challenges in deploying optical interconnects.
