Subal Sahni

Subal Sahni is the Vice President of Photonics at Celestial AI, where he built the team responsible for all aspects of PIC, light source, fiber interface and optical packaging development. Previously he was Sr. Technical Leader & Manager at Cisco Systems where he led the integration engineering group in the Luxtera division. Subal came to Cisco through the acquisition of Luxtera Inc, a pioneer in the design and commercialization of Silicon Photonics. A Senior Principal Engineer at Luxtera, he was a seminal part of the technology team that enabled the first high volume Silicon Photonics products in the optical transceiver industry.

Subal has 20 years of experience in the development and productization of integrated optics and brings a deep understanding of all phases of the engineering lifecycle of these products, from design to high volume manufacturing. He has given numerous invited talks and published extensively in the field of photonic integration on Silicon and has also been granted more than 30 patents on various aspects of technology and product development.

Subal received the B. Tech. degree in engineering physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.
