Integrated photonics: scaling the AI fabric with a non-scaling technology

Optical communication now underpins the expansion of AI infrastructure, spanning from campus-wide networks to rack-to-rack interconnects. While photonics integrated circuits are instrumental for AI scaling, the technology itself does not scale as CMOS does. In this presentation we discuss how the photonics technology disruptions will be necessary to address the performance and power requirements of the future AI fabric.
