Leonardo Ayala

Leonardo Ayala joined the Intelligent Medical Systems (IMSY) department at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) to utilize advanced imaging and machine learning techniques to solve clinical problems. After establishing methods for functional imaging in-vivo, he lead the team that developed the first video-rate multispectral laparoscope capable of monitoring ischemia in minimally invasive surgery. He is currently leading a team of researchers specialized in spectral imaging with the aim of solving some of the most challenging problems related to the translation of imaging techniques to clinical practice.
