Abstract
Spain is home to world-class research institutions, growing entrepreneurial ambition, and increasing investment in strategic technologies. Yet research excellence alone does not create economic impact. The real challenge is turning scientific breakthroughs into startups, scale-ups, manufacturing capacity, high-value jobs, and long-term competitiveness.
This panel brings together leaders from research, government, investment, and industry to explore how R&D can become the engine of a thriving innovation ecosystem. The discussion will examine how universities, research organizations, public investment initiatives, industry partnerships, and strategic infrastructures such as NanoIC, pilot lines, and semiconductor manufacturing initiatives can accelerate technology transfer and strengthen Europe's technological sovereignty.
From fundamental research to industrial leadership, the session will explore what is still missing to transform Spain's scientific strengths into globally competitive companies and a resilient deep-tech ecosystem.
