Biography
Carolina España Reina holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Málaga. She currently serves as the Minister of Economy, Finance, and European Funds for the Government of Andalusia, a position she has held since July 2022. In July 2024, she was also appointed Spokesperson for the Government of Andalusia.
In addition to her work in regional government, Carolina España has extensive experience in both local and national administrations. She served as a Member of the Spanish Parliament representing the province of Málaga starting in 2011 (10th Legislature). Among other responsibilities, she was the spokesperson for the Toledo Pact in the 10th and 11th legislatures, and later became the spokesperson for Employment, Migration, and Social Security during the 12th legislature. In her final term in the national parliament, she acted as spokesperson for the Finance Committee.
During her time as a national MP, she also served as a member of the Budget Committee, spokesperson for the Finance and Public Administration Committee, and alternate member of the Permanent Deputation.
At the local level, she was a city councillor in Málaga from 1999 (with Celia Villalobos leading the Popular Party’s candidate list) until 2012, later accompanying Francisco de la Torre in subsequent municipal elections. During that period, she held the position of Deputy Mayor for the Environment; later, for Economy, Finance, and Personnel; and in her final term in municipal government, she was responsible for the areas of Economy, Finance, and Tourism, in addition to serving as government team spokesperson and First Deputy Mayor.
Currently, Carolina España also holds the presidencies of Málaga Tech Park and Andalucía TRADE.
