Yoojin Ban

Yoojin Ban is Technology Director of System Integration at imec, responsible for defining physically realizable system architectures that connect imec’s technology innovations to next‑generation large‑scale AI and HPC datacenter systems. Since joining imec in 2015, she has been deeply involved in silicon photonics technologies, supporting the development of scalable optical interconnect solutions. Her expertise spans optical transceiver link architecture and optimization, covering silicon photonics devices, integration and packaging, and system‑level demonstrators. From 2021 to 2025, she served as Program Manager of imec’s industry‑affiliated Optical I/O R&D program, which targets scaling optical interconnects to bandwidth densities beyond 1 Tb/s/mm while reducing energy consumption below 1 pJ/bit, enabling next‑generation computing systems.
